Chorley Heritage Trail Location 6

This building once consisted of several cottages. One of these was the temporary home of the Tate Family and likely birthplace of Henry Tate, sugar manufacturer and philanthropist. Chorley’s first post office was located in this building. Continue along Park Road and cross ‘Back Mount’. This building, which is now a nightclub, was the home of the Pollard Family. Their daughter donated the water fountain in the park wall. The next building is a pub called the ‘White Hart’. It used to be a stagecoach inn called the ‘Red Lion’ with a yard and stables behind it. Continue past the end of Mealhouse Lane to arrive at Chorley Town Hall.
