September 2012 Chorley Heritage Centre Supporters Group was awarded a national Community Archive Acreditation for establishing benchmark Standards and Procedures which will allow other Community Archives to work towards raising standards across the region encouraging best practice for others to aim for allowing for the various levels participation and variety of work undertaken CHORLEY HERITAGE CENTRE SUPPORT GROUP

June 2012 Chorley Heritage Centre Supporters Group wins a national award by the Community Archives and Heritage Group. CHORLEY HERITAGE CENTRE SUPPORT GROUP Winner of the 'Best New Archive' for 2011 The award is for ' with the ulitimate aim of opening a Heritage Centre in the heart of Chorley', the Chorley Heritage Centre Supporters Group are running a 'Virtual Heritage Centre' to involve the community in 'Cheating The Skip' of local artifacts and ephemera, whist at the same time publicising the collections on the website. The Judges said' CHCSG Volunteers had gone far and wide to talk to those who had stories to tell and to those who could advise and give good advice. Progress had been excellent THE COMMUNITY ARCHIVES AND HERITAGE GROUP (CAHG) celebrates the contribution of community archives and shares good practice. The group is supported by the Archives and Records Association (Uk & Ireland) the lead professional body for archivists and record managers.
