So What Can We Do About Myles?

It has been frustrating, if totally understandable, that the keynote public events relating to the Myles Standish Project cannot take place in the current situation. However the public information and educational side of the Plan have been successfully forwarded. The exhibition concerning three key issues relating to Myles Standish’s life and work exists in digital form and in two sets of boards which will go on display at several sites in Chorley and Standish when safe opportunity arises. Teaching materials for Key Stage 2 learners are now at St James, Gillibrand, St Gregory and St Marie Standish schools. St James will use one set of the exhibition boards during November to support their classwork. Dave Goulden has produced a detailed, fascinating and challenging set of materials for Key Stage Three, which are also printed and shortly to be trialled at Southlands High. St Laurence’s Church will be one of the eventual exhibition sites and Julian Stretch is working on a virtual exhibition to introduce and support this. His video will be a partner to the introductory video that many folk will have seen at Astley Hall or in the Library.
